a custom eclipse ring handcrafted from polished 18-karat yellow gold and set with an oval cut smooth natural rose quartz and a oval cut natural green sapphire mined and cut in Sri Lanka (0.80ct)

rose quartz owes its colour to microscopic fibres of another mineral grown inside the crystal, which also give it its faint, milky haze. it rarely forms clear crystals, so it is usually cut smooth, as here. in greek myth it was linked with aphrodite and eros, and it remains the stone most often associated with love. most rose quartz today comes from brazil and madagascar.
